The Hanifen House

The Hanifen House is a 1½ story board and batten unique structure which was built in the early 1900's by Hugh Hanifen. Hugh lived in it until 1916. Mrs Clearly, a school teacher, lived there in 1926. It represents one of the nicer homes in Garnet, being built of vertical boards instead of the typical logs. The house also has a ten foot ceiling in the kitchen - a mark of a fine home during the Victorian Era. This kind of construction made heating the home expensive.
